Character
Counts! at Tipton Elementary
Character
Counts! is a framework for character development and it is based on the values
called The Six Pillars of Character. The pillars are Trustworthiness, Respect,
Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship.
The
Tipton Elementary staff has divided into sub-committees which are focusing on
key areas to enrich the culture of our school and community. These areas are: embedding Character Counts into our
everyday curriculum, teaching respectful behaviors, and partnering with our
families and community.
The
sub-committees are using these key areas to help develop a plan for continuous
improvement in communication, resources, assemblies, community outreach, and
recess procedures.
A
few highlights of the activities that the elementary has done so far
include: We had a kick-off
assembly for our food drive to support our local food pantry; we have read the
book “Have You Filled A Bucket Today?” and started filling our own buckets.
